Dubai has been wholly built on a sandy
plain. Yes it’s base is nothing but sand and as unsteady as that sounds imagine
what a miracle it is, entire engineering behind the miraculous project of Palm Jumeirah
which undertook the construction of this unique island by creating the land
itself on water! Dubai is a marvel of modern engineering and the same reason
makes it one of the most visited tourist spots in the world. Besides its
original topography , Dubai boasts of some of the finest architectures in the
world. The whole of the city is divided into two parts; old Dubai and the
marina Dubai and while old Dubai has places like the Gold Souk and Meena Bazaar
, Marina Dubai consists of all the state of the art architectural structures.
Gold souk is one of the oldest tourist
attractions of Dubai where one can buy gold at a very comparatively cheap rate
than any other places. Meena Bazaar is one of the grandest markets that the
city has where traditional suits and other apparels are available on wholesale
rates. Bur Dubai also known as the old Dubai has an amazing and fabulous water
park known as the Wild Wadi . It has one of the most technologically advanced
rides there are and a visit to the same is mandatory especially if you are
travelling with family. For accommodations Movenpick Apartments is a good
choice in Bur Dubai. The night life that is the bars and pubs are also
incredible and are present in both Bur and Marina Dubai.
Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the
world built according to the architectural style known as neo- futurism. The
very view of the building is scintillating and the architecture phenomenal. The
view from the hundred and twenty seventh floor is that of a meticulously
orchestrated fountain and light show. The very experience of going up in the
elevator is unique as the same has been constructed according to the avant
garde architecture! Entry to Burj Khalifa is through the Dubai Mall which is
also the largest mall in whole of Dubai; it has multiple international brands
and various activities like the ice skating rink which one can indulge in . It
also consists of a colossal acrylic glass aquarium. The tank must have over
1,000 fish including sharks, rays and everything else with fins and scales!
There are a couple of areas where you can get up close to starfish and crabs
which is good for younger visitors to appreciate these incredible creatures.
The Mall of Emirates consists of one of the largest snow parks in the world
with ice sculptures, penguin shows , skiing and what not. Get your snow boots
on and have fun with Twin Track Bobsled runs, a snow cavern filed with
interactive experience, and Tobogganing Hill. Visit the upgrade station for a
ride on the Giant Ball or jump on the chairlift for a spectacular bird’s eye
view of the entire park . Sit in an ice flyer to reach level two and enjoy some
time in a petite yet precious wooden restaurant up there .
Marina Dubai , the entirely of it is like
the Champs Elysees of Dubai, come night and you would see Ferraris,
Lamborghini’s, Aston Martins whizzing about, people in the best of fashion out
on the streets and in the true European style, all the restaurants and cafes
have excellent sittings on the outside. Almost all the hotels have this Dubain
Champs Elysees on one side and the Jumeirah beach on the other which gives this
place its unique charm. Burj Al Arab , the third tallest hotel is also situated
on the Jumeirah Beach road and a lunch or dinner at one of its most prestigious
restaurant is the only way by which you could get an entry inside this marvel
if you aren’t already a residing guest in the same .
Who has not heard of Palm Jumeirah. There
is nothing to say about it but the recommendation that one should try and spend
at least two to three days in Hotel Atlantis to be completely able to savour
this architectural glory in all its beauty and quality.
The desert safari is another activity/place
worth visiting. Don’t think it just as any other ride through the desert . No,
no its really a wild ride in those Land Rovers that experts drive over huge
sand dunes making it a yet another uniquely Dubai experience even though the
desert is a bit far from the main city. You also have the opportunity to drive(
yourself) in sand , the all terrain vehicles that are available on rent there!
And this biking should not be missed. In the evening , a Belly Dancing show
takes place in a temporary tourist settlement in the desert, this is an
integral part of the Arabic culture and arts . One can also indulge in the
traditional or local food available here .
People usually prefer covering Abu Dhabi
too along with going to Dubai . And if truth be told then doing so is only wise
since Abu Dhabi is only four hours away from Dubai (if the distance is covered
in car). The Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan Mosque (more often
called Sheikh Zayed Mosque) is the largest mosque in the UAE. Though on
first glance the carvings seem as intricate as the Tah Mahal but unfortunately
it is not. However, the white marble’s beauty of this edifice is sure to catch
one’s eye. The interior two had been intricately constructed and designed with
dazzling chandeliers and seamless carpeting inside the entire edifice of the
mosque. In case you like to be assured by the official statistics then:
Sheikh Zayed Mosque holds two official
world records:
the world's largest carpet, handmade,
which is 5627 square meters. It weighs 47 tonnes (35 of wool
and 12 of cotton), is made of 2.268.000.000 nodes (over 2.2 billion)
and has required over 1,200 specialized workers.
the largest chandelier in the world; it is
15 meters high and 10 meters in diameter.
The Ferrari World is not only a Ferrari
museum but almost a tiny amusement park with various car racing options ( in a
number of different manners) available for the visitors. It has the world’s
fastest roller coaster with speed matching a ferrari’s horsepower. Not only
that , the Ferrari World also has other attractions like Cinema Mirandillo
Ferrari store and restaurants. In short , it’s a Ferrari version of our all
time favourite Disneyland!
